VILLA RUSSIZ IN A GLANCE
THE HISTORY OF VILLA RUSSIZ TELLS MANY FASCINATING STORIES, AND THEY ARE ALL STORIES OF LOVE. The profound love that linked Countess Elvine Ritter von Zahony to Count Theodor de La Tour, who founded Villa Russiz together, in 1868. The deep love that linked Theodor to a place and a land, Russiz and the Collio Goriziano (Gorizia Hills), which express an astonishing natural vocation for grape growing. The charitable love for underprivileged children, which has characterized since the very beginning Elvine’s work, with the creation of care and educational structures. It is not by chance if some of our wines are called “de La Tour” in honor of the couple that in 1868 introduced modern winemaking to the Collio and built here a school for poor children. Afterwards, the generosity of the noblewoman Adele Cerruti put in place important aid and support orientated towards children, an activity that still continues today.
